Campaign Launch: Shout About Your Co-op

Welcome to Shout About Your Co-op, a bold media campaign from The Co-op Federation that celebrates the incredible diversity and impact of co-operatives across Australia. Launched during the International Year of Co-operatives at our Assembly in March 2025, this campaign aims to spread the word about what co-operatives are, what they stand for, and why they’re worth shouting about! #ShoutAboutYourCoop

Why Co-operatives Deserve the Spotlight

Co-operatives come in all shapes, sizes, and industries—fishing fleets, childcare centres, food co-ops, retail stores, craft collectives, plumbing services, education providers, farming co-ops, and builders, just to name a few. They’re powered by people, for people, and have fairness baked into their DNA.

Co-ops are:

Active and Democratic: Owned and run by their members, every co-op empowers individuals with a voice and a vote.
Built for the Community: They grow from local needs, creating shared value instead of profits for distant shareholders.
Diverse and Innovative: From the big to the small, the local to the national, co-ops are transforming industries and communities.

Despite their wide-reaching impact, the word “Co-operative” isn’t used as often as it should be—largely because there is a limited understanding of co-ops in Australia. This campaign aims to change that by encouraging our members to shout proudly about their co-ops!
