Conference focus
Co-operative enterprise in Australia is thriving and diverse. Based on the experience of our 2018 Conference and feedback from Co-ops NSW member co-operatives, it was timely to look at the capacity, synergy and cross benefits of the collaborative businesses of our co-operative sectors.
Co-operatives further expressed a need for an annual forum that is more than simply a conference program of speakers and seminars. They are looking for practical application and learning.
In 2019 we introduced our first Co-operative Expo as part of the conference program and extended our Professional Development Day.
In summary, the Conference and Expo offered the following key components:
- Learning and Professional Development Day
- Conference and sector-specific workshops/meetings
- Expo of co-operative trade suppliers and services

With this concept of multiple sectors in mind, co-operatives are hard to represent as a single metaphor. The conference images are juxtaposed like a Lichtenstein graphic artwork. The power of co-operative collaboration is demonstrated with a contemporary but retro image reflecting traditional values – Boom!
