2021 ASSEMBLY DINNER

Thursday 17 June (6:30 pm for 7 pm to 10pm)

The conference dinner focussed on presenting and promoting co-operative produce and services.

Barracks on Barrack, 2nd Floor, 5-7 Barrack St, Sydney

  • Pre-dinner drinks: 6:30-7:15 pm
  • Dinner: 7:00–10pm including Speaker/Performance
  • 3 course meal and drinks (2 alternative options for each course plus a vegetarian or vegan option (to be advised beforehand – dependant on attendee dietary requirements).

  • Tooraweenah Prime Roast rack of lamb + potato layonnaise + olive – Yenda Producers, prune sauce + baby carrots + broccolini
  • Commercial Fisherman’s Grilled barramundi fillet + creamy NSW/ACT Truffle Marketing, truffle mash + meunière sauce + mixed leaf salad

Dessert

Dinner Speaker  

The Co-op Federation is pleased to present Geoff Bugden.

Geoff Bugden was born in Sydney in 1960 Geoff’s mother (Valerie) is of Aboriginal decent a “Kamilaroi woman”.  Geoff grew up in a 2 bedroom, red brick and tile house opposite the 2nd tee of the Marrickville golf course on the Cooks river. Educated at Canterbury High school but left early to start his working life.

Geoff is a boilermaker by trade but Rugby league was Geoff’s sport and he started playing at the age of 11 with the Earlwood Saints football Club in the Newtown district. Geoff was graded into the Newtown Rugby League club at age 17 where he played 5 years from 1977 to 1981. Geoff won the Rothmans Medal in 1980 for the Best and Fairest player in the NSW Rugby League competition.  He was requited by Jack Gibson to the Parramatta club in 1982 where he played there until retirement in 1990. Geoff played a total of 13 years of ‘semi professional’ rugby league and just over 140 first grade games.  Won 3 grand finals with Parramatta and lost one with Newtown. Represented NSW City and played 2 games for NSW state of origin.

When Geoff retired from rugby league he fulfilled his dream of joining the NSW police service where he served a total of 15 years’ service including 12 years at Lismore police station as a Detective.

After leaving the Police service in 2007 Geoff became a full time Pecan Nut and cattle farmer. Geoff and his wife Debbie now run their 150 acre Certified Pecan Nut farm just outside of Lismore NSW and their 750 acre cattle farm near Kyogle NSW.

Geoff is the Author of a 300 page book titled “The Australian Pecan Farmers Growers Guide” written for the “Australian Pecan Association” which Geoff has been the Vice President of for the past 20 years until recently retired from this position to start the “Pecan Farmers’ Co-operative of Australia”.
